Welcome to Kerry Camogie....

Camogie was revived in Kerry in 2006, after a former successful period during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Mary O'Connor, Munster Development Officer and now National Director of Camogie Development was instrumental in this.

There are currently 6 registered clubs in the county, Causeway, Cillard, Tralee Parnells, Killarney and Clanmaurice. There are currently over 400 women and girls in Kerry playing regularly, both in their clubs and schools.

At inter county level Kerry fields 4 teams, U14, U16, Minor and Adult. Last year Kerry won Division 4 of Irish Daily Star National Camogie League along with the Munster Junior Championship. This year Kerry will be competing in Division 3 of the National League and in the All Ireland Junior Championship.

WEEKLY NEWS 24/6/2016

A huge congratulations to Cillard camogie club who won the Division 4 title in the John West Féile na nGael. In total Cillard played 3 games in the group stages and accounted for Donard the Glin, Tramore and Clonea in the group stages. In the quarter final they defeated Lacken of Cavan, next up was a semi against Drom and Inch of Tipp but the Cillard girls put in a strong performance to win comfortably. That victory qualified them for the final where they faced Eglish of Tyrone. In a tightly contested final Cillard won out on a score line of 2-7 to 2-4.

The Kerry ladies began their Premier Junior All Ireland camogie campaign last Sunday in Austin Stacks Park Tralee against Roscommon. In an entertaining affair Kerry lost out on a score line of 1-12 to 0-10. While this was not the result that the management team would have wanted to begin their championship campaign with there were a number of encouraging aspects to the display. Next up for the team is a trip to face Dublin on Sunday the 26th of June at 1:30pm in Parnells GAA in Coolock.
